Protect your personal data during a job search
Share what is needed, verify who is asking, and keep sensitive career information under your control.
Minimise what you share
A résumé needs enough information to assess your fit, not your full identity record. Avoid unnecessary home addresses, identification numbers, banking details, or credentials.
Verify the request
Check company domains, recruiter identities, role listings, and interview invitations. Be cautious when urgency, secrecy, or payment requests replace a normal hiring process.
- Use unique passwords and multi-factor authentication
- Review document sharing permissions
- Remove access when a process ends
Know where assistance sends data
Before using an AI or productivity tool, understand what it stores, why it processes the information, and whether you can delete it. Redact sensitive details when they are not needed.
